A Century of Raspberry Heritage

Raspberry cultivation in Serbia dates to the late 19th century, when emigrants introduced American varieties to the fertile western hills. Today, Serbia cultivates raspberries across more than 20,000 hectares, producing an average of 108,000 tonnes annually, making it the world's third-largest producer after Russia and Mexico.

Known as "Red Gold" (Crveno Zlato), the raspberry represents 10% of Serbia's total food exports and 30% of all fruit and vegetable shipments. In 2024, the country exported approximately 80,000 tonnes of frozen raspberries, primarily to Austria, Italy, and Germany, which together account for 83% of export value. Serbia is the largest frozen fruit supplier to France and second-largest to Germany within the EU.

The production heartland spans Western Serbia and Šumadija, representing 86% of national output. These regions, centered around Čačak, Arilje, and Ivanjica, offer the perfect microclimate: cold winters for dormancy, mild summers for fruiting, and well-drained, moderately acidic soils that develop exceptional flavor concentration.

The chocolate is sourced from established Belgian producers and refined using traditional European techniques. Precise tempering, carefully heating, cooling, and reheating to exact temperature thresholds, produces a stable crystalline structure that gives the shell its satisfying snap, smooth mouthfeel, and ability to withstand frozen storage without cracking or blooming.

Enrobing takes place under strictly controlled conditions of temperature and humidity. The raspberry's irregular drupelet surface requires precise calibration to achieve uniform coverage, no excess, no gaps, preserving the berry's natural moisture while adding a thin, even layer of velvety chocolate. These varieties are sourced from certified orchards across Western Serbia and Šumadija, primarily around Čačak, Arilje, and Ivanjica.

02 What types of chocolate are available?

The raspberry is available in all three Belgian chocolate varieties: Dark, Milk, and White. Standard blends are Dark & White or Milk & White (dual-layer coating). All options are available with or without sugar. The chocolate is sourced from established Belgian producers and is certified Bio Suisse, Naturland, USDA NOP, EU Organic, Fairtrade, and Rainforest Alliance.

03 How should I store the product?

Store at –18 °C or below at all times. The product requires an unbroken frozen chain from our facility to the consumer's freezer. Shelf life is 12 months from the date of production when stored correctly. Once opened, reseal the doypack and return to the freezer promptly. Do not refreeze after thawing.

04 What packaging options are available?

Standard retail packaging is available in 130 g and 150 g formats, either as cups or resealable pouches (doypack with zip closure). For B2B and industrial customers, we offer bulk packs in 1 kg and 5 kg configurations. Custom packaging weights (75g, 200g, 500g) are available upon request for private label orders.

Yes. We provide full private label service including custom branding, packaging design support, label compliance for your target market, and flexible weight options. Our in-house design team can assist with artwork preparation. The Belgian chocolate carries its own certifications: Bio Suisse, Naturland, USDA NOP, EU Organic, Fairtrade, and Rainforest Alliance. Our facility operates under IFS Food (High Level) and SMETA 4-Pillar.

07 Does the product contain allergens?

The product contains milk (present in milk and white chocolate). It may contain traces of soy lecithin (used as an emulsifier in some chocolate formulations). The product is manufactured in a gluten-free facility. It does not contain nuts, eggs, or wheat. Always refer to the specific batch label for the most current allergen declaration.

We currently export to the European Union (IFS Food certified), United States (FDA registered), United Kingdom (post-Brexit compliant), Canada (CFIA compliant), South Korea (MFDS approved), and the Middle East (Halal certified). We are flexible on order quantities. For standard Panberry-branded packaging, we can ship from a single pallet. For private label orders with custom packaging, the minimum order depends on packaging format and design complexitym, typically starting at one full pallet or equivalent. For trial and sample orders, please contact us directly and we will find a solution.

10 Is the product suitable for vegans or those avoiding sugar?

The product contains milk chocolate and is therefore not suitable for vegans in its standard formulation. However, we offer a sugar-free option across all chocolate types, ideal for health-conscious consumers and diabetic-friendly product lines. The dark chocolate variant has the lowest dairy content. For specific dietary formulations, contact our product team.

The raspberry is our flagship product and the most popular SKU in the Panberry collection. Its flavor profile is bolder and more tangy than the blueberry (which is sweeter and mellower) and more aromatically complex than the sour cherry (which has sharper, one-note tartness). The raspberry's unique drupelet structure also creates a distinctive frozen crunch-to-juicy transition that no other berry replicates.
